Abstract:

Description: This program documents a recent chapter in America's 200-year history of the exploitation of Chinese workers. Students at DCTV explore the racism that still underlies economic oppression by covering the Chinese community's reaction when Chinese are excluded from employment on two large federal construction projects in Chinatown. The student producers show how the community finds empowerment through collective action and street protests.
