Abstract:

"This enchanting video introduces younger students to the three "R's" of trash and inspires creative recycling and reuse projects. One day while playing, six-year old Wayan was upset to find plastic litter scattered around his lush, green village on the island paradise of Bali. That night, the shadow puppet master performed a play about a king who cleaned up his domain by learning to reduce, reuse and recycle garbage. Wayan decides to lead an effort to tidy his village by practicing the three "R's". He and his friends celebrate their success with a surprise parade featuring musical instruments constructed from discarded plastic. This cultural treat shows trash as a global issue that even kids can tackle. Excerpts aired on Sesame Street. Includes 15-page study/activity guide."
