Abstract:

Over two and a half million Americans served in the Vietnam War. Forty years later, tens of thousands of veterans still suffer from Post-traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD). Healing a soldier's Heart follows several courageous veterans who venture back to Vietnam to face their former enemies in an effort to tame their inner demons and heal their severely wounded hearts. Featuring the pioneering work of psychotherapist Edward Tick, this film reveals the transformative dynamics of Tick's PTSD healing process, and the human soul. Healing a soldier's Heart traces the veterans' gradual shift from terrorized nightmares, drug abuse and attempted suicides, to healed warriors - with profound lessons for PTSD-suffering younger veterans from more recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
