Abstract:

Welcome to China! In this program, students will tour Shanghai and experience what the immense city has to offer, starting with shopping shopping in a traditional market before taking an elevator to the top of the sky-high Oriental Pearl TV Tower. Then, it's off to the Nanshi district for a stroll through the beautiful Yuyuan Garden and a visit to a Buddhist temple to burn some incense. Throughout the program, students will learn about some o the cultural traditions, history, climate, and politics of China, including how manu people in China ride bicycles instead of drive cars. After sampling some delicacies in a teahouse, students will complete their journey with a visit to the modern Shanghai Grand Theater to watch a time-honored Yueju performance.
