Abstract:

The "After School Chinese" series was developed by CCTV for children aged from 6-12. Each 15 minute lesson begins with a situational dialogue that introduces students to around 10 new words and 1 or 2 sentence patterns. The host, Donald Holder, an American teacher living in China, follows the dialogue with an English language explantion of the lesson's content. New vocabulary words and sentence patterns are reiterated and reemphasized through numerous means. Students can use the built-in menu to choose to view just the dialogues, vocabulary words, or the entire lesson. 4 volumes total.
