Abstract:

Take a clear look at the lives of Japanese-Americans in the Los Angeles Harbor fishing community before, during, and after the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. Students will see how the one-thriving Japanese community on Terminal Island was forced to live in American internment camps and abandon a way of life forever. Using archival footage and interviews with former internees, this program depicts the anti-Japanese sentiment in America during WWII and documents the unjust incarceration of Japanese-Americans.
