Abstract:

After learning concepts and definitions related to diasporas and migration, students examine the roles and experiences of five diasporic communities in the United States. Students will learn about the Armenian, Chinese, Cuban, Irish, and Yoruban diasporas in the United States—from their development as diasporas to their contemporary identities, roles, and remaining homeland ties.
