Abstract:

A unique, independently produced documentary, rumored to include several sequences staged for dramatic effect. Filmmaker Harry Schenck and British scientist Joan Baldwin undertook this expedition into the remote jungles of the Malayan Peninsula, with an elephant convoy, 14 cameras and a small army of native guides and servants. They captured plenty of exciting wildlife footage on film, including a dangerous crossing over crocodile-infested waters. The film also follows the crew's efforts to bring Ms. Baldwin to safety after she was stricken with malaria. The project was financially backed by the Sultan of Perak, who also appears in the film.
