Abstract:

Based on a story by Katy Yew. The "alternately funny and gritty, wise and touching" (Kevin Thomas, Los Angeles Times) coming-of-age story of Lien, a wide-eyed 16-year-old girl (Hiep Thi Le, Heaven and Earth) who comes from a rural village to work in the Sing Sing Hotel, not knowing that the hotel is based in the heart of Singapore's red-light district and all the "female" residents are transvestites and transsexuals. Overcoming her initial intimidation, she learns about the secrets and pains of love, sexuality and womanhood from these "fake women." With Hiep Thi Le, Michael Lam, Greg-o, Ernest Seah, David Knight.
