Abstract:

A profile of the much-acclaimed Chinese artist whose works bridge past and present, East and West. Chang was the first Chinese artist to achieve international recognition through his original works as well as for his skill at emulating and forging past masterpieces. Whether fake or genuine, Chang Dai-Chien's art illustrates essential differences between Western and Chinese approaches to art, and how originality and tradition, abstraction and representation are valued and interpreted by both East and West.
