Abstract:

A young man from India, running a newsstand for his uncle in the East Indian section of Jackson Heights in the New York City borough of Queens, is trying, without success, to break into the entertainment world as a blues singer incorporating elements of East Indian folk music into American blues. His uncle disapproves of this quite heavily, takes the newsstand away from him, and turns him out on to the street, where he sings his brand of blues as a street musician. With Rahul Chatterji, Charlean Hines, Sakina Jaffrey
