Abstract:

"The Gyalwa Karmapas were the first Tibetan lamas to be acknowledged as reincarnations and represent some of the most important spiritual figures of Tibet. This program studies the spectacle and circumstances behind the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa's triumphant return to his original seat at the Tsurphu monastery in summer of 1992. The film concludes with the Karmapa's enthronement at the Jokhang Temple."
