Abstract:

"This beautifully produced CD-ROM explores the history and aftermath of the Hiroshima bombing from both the Japanese and American viewpoints. Two virtual 'rooms' present a range of exhibits: in the American room, students can view war propaganda films, watch an interview with atomic bomb scientist Owen Chamberlain, link to a related Web site (Internet provider required), and listen to original radio broadcasts; meanwhile in the Japanese room, students can meet survivors and tour the city's Peace Park, learn some Japanese words, listen to NPR stories commemorating the 50th anniversary of the bomb, and leaf through an interactive comic book set in Hiroshima at the time of the bombing. The CD also has suggestions for projects and a scrapbook feature that lets users save and annotate any part of the program. Requirements: Macintosh requires 68040 processor or better, 8MB RAM; Windows requires 486 or better, 8MB RAM. DeLoayza Associates.
